We found a new Japanese place last weekend that was really good and that I had heard a lot about. It is great because it is in Havelock so it doesn't take but 15 minutest to get to from our house. Score!!
When my grandma and mom were here back in the fall, we went to this place called MJs. It is in downtown New Bern, NC and it looks like a hole in the wall kind of place. It specializes in seafood (all kinds)! Well I have been dying to take Q there and get some steamed oysters. Ever since living in Charleston I found a love for oysters, thanks to Q.

**Fun fact, on the second night that I had seen Q (first night we really actually met), I learned how to shuck an oyster and also ate my very first steamed oyster. So oysters are now our thing!
I had been researching where I could find steamed oysters around here, and you would think it would be hard to choose from the long list of restaurants but all I could find was this MJs. It seems the thing around here is to fry them, which to me totally kills the taste (unless it's on a Poboy sandwich). These oysters turned out to be everything I was hoping for; I just wish there were a few more because they just disappear so fast.
Needless to say this is a great seafood restaurant. I got crab legs (to die for!) and Q got shrimp and grits and he said they were amazing as well. So come on family and friends, come visit!
