Play, Play, Play

Lately Cali has been sleeping 90% of the day... mostly on the couch.  It must have the same effect on her that it does on me; you touch it and you fall asleep

But at night after Q gets home for work, she has a magic switch and she is ready to play, play, play

She looks out the window constantly waiting for something to happen

But the most annoying thing (but super funny) is, she walks around with this ball and drops it at your feet waiting for you to throw it.  Now we have all hardwood floors (except in the room in the picture below) so every time she drops the ball it bounces and makes noise... this noise will probably be forever ingrained into our brains

But we love her too much to say no, so we throw the ball for her.  How can you say no to that face?!

Couch

There has been a lot of changes around here lately, it's hard to keep up.

One of our favorite changes so far is the new couch we got right after the new year.  Before we had the blue couches, and they were great (thanks Josh and Joanna), but we wanted something newer and sophisticated.

{BEFORE}
This room looked so cozy during Christmas time but a little less exciting otherwise so keep that in mind
 {AFTER}
Don't mind the boring fireplace, we just had a fire and I didn't put the pictures back yet
But we love the way it looks now and the couch is so comfy.

So we moved the blue couch into our bonus room that didn't have anything in it but the bookshelf.  Now we have too sitting areas.

So far it has been a great change. We enjoy it every day and we have fallen asleep on it every night since we got it, I think.  The corner is the deadly spot for me, I'm a goner every time.

The Fort

This past weekend we made a little trip out to Fort Macon.  The weather was perfect and it wasn't too windy to freeze us to death.

The moat around the fort and the actual fort

There he is! Q

Giant front doors to the fort. Crazy how big and thick they are

View of the beach from the fort! So beautiful

Us! So pretty on this beach.  Tons of sand space too... maybe a beach location for the summer

Complications

It has been a long time since I have written a post about Cali, so I feel the need to update.

I have been thinking back to when we moved to NC (when Cali was almost 4 months old) and how Cali was back then.  She was still very young and didn't know very much.  Since then, I think we went through the "terrible twos" which was a struggle every day with her and I. The terrible twos lasted for about a month and we got over it and she became such a better dog.

Well, recently (she is almost 9 months now), I think we are going through a new phase.  Q and I decided last night that we need to focus on her some more and crack down.  She has been listening but choosing to ignore us and just keep walking into the neighbors yard.  We have been trying to keep her off the new couch (especially with some of her bones that scratch us or the couch).  She has also been being really bad with begging for our food.
Cali and her best friend, Angel in downtown New Bern
So I hope I can update you in a couple weeks/month on how she is doing, and I hope I can say she is doing GREAT!!!

Sunshine weekend

What an amazing weekend we had. The weather was so great and we got to hang out with our dear friends here.  We spent time with our little girl and she is just such a joy.  She went to downtown New Bern and got LOTS of attention, went to the dog park, went for a 3 mile run, then played down in the water with her new toy that dad bought her.  She was in pure doggie heaven that is for sure.  She sure wore herself out!

Happy Monday everyone!

TGIF

Well, we made it to Friday! This week has been a super busy one for us. I felt like Monday lasted forever but since then, it has flown by.  Now that it is Friday, the weekend is here to stay for a couple days.  I can't wait to just relax and hang out with my one and only and the crazy small child that we have (oops I mean dog)!

It's Friday morning and Cali is ready to play!

She will be bugging me all day to go outside and play I am sure! With the nice weather, she wants to be outside 24/7

She has also learned recently that when I say, "where's daddy?" she runs to the door and looks out for him, even if he is sitting right there.  She knows what it means when a car pulls into the driveway that it could be him.  She waits all day long for him.

Again Happy Friday everyone! Enjoy your weekend!

Welcome to the military

Welcome to a new year! I thought this year was going to consist of some quiet time in North Carolina, at least for a little while, but I am slowly being proven that I was just highly mistaken.

For me, I will be starting my CNA training tomorrow.  Yes, I am excited but at the same time I am not so excited for what tasks are going to be asked of me.  I am just glad I am going to get some time to adjust back into the mindset before I am doing anything hands on. I hope I am prepared.

For Q, there is tons going on.  I sure hope he stops coming home every day with news of new training coming up and him having to leave.  Yesterday he came home and told me he has training in MD for two days next month. On top of that, the end of the month leaving for training in Vegas for a little more than a month. So that puts February's dates of him being gone 13 out of the 28 days in the month! Then as it stands now, deployment in August. Yay us!

I couldn't be more proud of Q and how well he is taking to his job, but I was hoping for a little while longer of peace and quiet. Maybe after February :) That's my rant for today, happy Tuesday!

Snow Playing 2

As I mentioned in a previous post, we got lots of snow while we were in Ohio.  After stressing to Q that Cincy doesn't get snow this time of year, naturally nature proved me wrong and we got it. The sight was just incredible to see.  I am so glad we got to see the snow.  Cali and Q ware so funny playing in it.  Cali got COVERED in snow!

And Cali ran her little legs off.

"Dad please throw it," Cali said (if she could really speak this is what she would say I'm sure)

It was probably the only time Cali was cool with that thick coat.

I just LOVE LOVE LOVE our street when it is covered in snow and the snow is still on the trees.

Cali was collecting the snow balls on her feet! Great chew toy for later!

Like Human

Some days I wish Cali was a human being.  She acts like it sometimes and she listens to me so intently at times that I just wait for her to speak back.  She is the coolest dog I've ever had.  Her personality is perfect.  She can be hyper at times but she can also be so sweet (especially at night).  I definitely love Aussiedoodles now! May not be able to live without one now :) Happy 8 month birthday Cali! And Happy New Year to all!!!
