I have to say that this week has come and gone pretty fast. Thankfully!!!!!
Not sure if that has anything to do with the 3.5 snow days that I have had now!!! Yes, that means I have had half of Tuesday, all Wednesday, Thursday and Friday off!!! The roads were pretty bad the past few days, but we definitely could have worked Friday but I guess I'm not complaining.
I have spent most of my time playing with Cali outside. I swear if I didn't ask her to come inside she wouldn't. And then when she does come inside, this is how she looks….. she sits by the door!!!
Oh and did I forget to mention that she just loves to eat the snow. She actually peed by the front door because she had to go so bad from eating snow that I didn't know she had to go outside. Oopsies!!! My bad!!!
I have also been baking and cooking up a storm. I wish it wasn't just me here to eat it all either. Oh well!!!
Cheers to another week down!! Only 2 more to go!
Oh and btw, Q's date got pushed back almost a week! Doesn't that stink!!!!!! Ugh, what can you do!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Snow Day
We finally got some of the snow here in eastern NC!!!! Everyone has been talking about getting snow and I really wanted some! As much as I dislike the cold, I enjoy snow once in a while. The good thing about getting it here is that it will be gone by the weekend. We are supposed to be back up in the 50s and 60s by the weekend. When there is snow in the forecast here, everything shuts down. They do not have the equipment here to handle it. Who knows when the roads will be cleared off… if they are at all. Some how I have to figure out how to get out of my driveway by tomorrow.
I was dismissed from work yesterday at 11:30 and it had just started raining/sleeting at that point. This is what the truck looked like when I got home, covered in ice.
We had sleet for most of the day yesterday. I let Cali out around 4 o'clock and this is what it looked like. She instantly started trying to eat it. This is only the 3rd time she has seen snow.
And then this morning when we woke up…. we have about 3-4 inches. It is mostly ice and sleet accumulation with a dusting of snow on top. The problem is you can't pick it up and make a snowball or anything. You don't even sink when you walk on it.
But Cali enjoys running around in it. She got to play with the neighbor dog for a little while and ran out all of her energy.
Then she chased the neighbors on their 4 wheelers.. of course barking at them as well.
And then we come in and have some snuggle time to stay warm! She is so fun to have in the snow. Now all I wish is for Q to be here to enjoy my snow day with!
Hope everyone enjoys their snow day (if you have one)! Otherwise, stay warm, stay safe! Have a good day!

Under 3
We have finally reached under 3 weeks left of this deployment! Yippie!!! I must say though, this week has been an emotional week for me. I have been very good this whole time and have not broke down once, well I reached my limit I guess. I have been stressing over everything and everyone this week. I have been stressing about Cali and about the house.
I know it will all work out and I will calm down. I am working through this and slowly getting better. I am trying to be excited about his homecoming this week, but I am just excited that it is almost done. I look forward to all the things that we can finally do together. I look forward to having Q here to cook with, clean with, laugh with, play with, walk with, and right now… freeze with… brrrrr!
All in all this has been one of the rough week but I survived and will hopefully have a different outlook on next week!
On a lighter note, Cali got her final haircut (before Q returns)! This makes me happy!

French Toast Muffins
So here is the recipe some have been asking for. These were very tasty. I wish I would have soaked them overnight like it asks for but all in all very easy and so yummy! I will probably be making these again once Q gets home!
Ingredients:
1 load French Bread, cut and torn into small pieces (about 12 cups)
2 1/2 cups milk
6 large eggs
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
For the Cinnamon Streusel Topping:
1/4 cup cold butter
1/4 cup light brown sugar
1/4 cup all purpose flour
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
pinch of salt
directions:
1. In medium bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon
2. grease a 12 cup muffin pan. Add about 1 cup of bread cubes to each muffin cup. Carefully pour egg and milk mixture evenly over each muffin tin. You may need to press down on the bread cubes after you pour a little mixture and then pour more. Pour slowly or you will have a mess. Cover the muffins with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 2 hours or up to overnight.
3. When ready to bake, preheat over to 350. To make cinnamon streusel, in a small bowl, combine butter, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon and salt. Mix together with your hands, until you have a crumbly mixture. Remove the muffins from the refrigerator and sprinkle the muffins evenly with the streusel topping.
4. Bake for 25 minutes or until tops are golden brown. Let muffins cool for 5 minutes. Remove from pan and serve with butter and maple syrup, if desired.

Stronger
There is one song that really touches me no matter how many times I hear it. This song got me through a lot a few years ago. I never believed that a song can really touch you, until this. I would use this song as my alarm, listen to it walking to class, in the car on the way to the gym, grocery store, wherever. This song probably is the most played song in my iTunes library by far! This song came on today and I just smiled because I made it through the rough times. This song helped bring me to Q. Enjoy!

"A Little Bit Stronger"
Woke up late today, and I still feel the sting of the pain.
But I brushed my teeth anyway, got dressed through the mess and put a smile on my face.
I got a little bit stronger.
Riding in the car to work, and I'm trying to ignore the hurt.
So I turned on the radio, Stupid song made me think of you,
I listened to it for minute, but then I changed it.
I'm getting a little bit stronger, just a little bit stronger.
And I'm done hoping that we can work it out,
I'm done with how it feels, spinning my wheels
Letting you drag my heart around.
And ohhh
I'm done thinking, that you could ever change.
I know my heart will never be the same,
but I'm telling myself I'll be okay.
Even on my weakest days, I get a little bit stronger.
Doesn't happen over night, but you turn around and a months gone by,
And you realize you haven't cried.
I'm not giving you a hour or a second or another minute longer.
I'm busy getting stronger.
I get a little bit stronger.
Getting along without you baby,
I'm better off without you baby,
How does it feel with out me baby?
I'm getting stronger without you baby.
And I'm done hoping that we can work it out,
I'm done with how it feels, spinning my wheels
Letting you drag my heart around.
And ohhh

Prepping Time
Well everyone, I am starting to get into full on prep for Q's homecoming mode! We had our squadron return and reunion brief last night and it got me even more excited about the month ahead. It was funny to hear all the wives say how they are not ready just yet for their Marine to return home and 95% of the reason was because they didn't feel their house was ready. I totally thought I was going to feel this way and be beyond freaking out about cleaning but I am not. I don't know why, but I'm not. At least right now I am not, as me in a few weeks or so and that answer may change. I do have some time still but so far so good. I have started my to do list but so far there isn't much on it. Here is a peak at what I have to do so far….
1. organize hall closet
2. organize junk drawer
3. wash Q's truck and my car
4. organize office
5. hang entry way photos
5. Cali haircut
6. replace battery in Q's truck remote (that died the week he left)
Of course I don't have on there the typical things that I do the final week before he returns like wash sheets, clean bathrooms, vacuum, mop, etc. etc. etc. Needless to say the countdown has totally begun and I can't wait!!!! Here is to hoping the next month FLIES!!!!!
