Man Room Part 1

One of the great things about this house is that there is TONS of space.  It is hard to not want to just fill it all up and make it look so great.  I know that we have the potential to be moving in about a year or so, so I am trying my best to keep it simple and not go crazy but the hardest part is keeping Q under control.

Not many people can say that they have a room for the man of the house and themselves, but we can.  Our upstairs area, called a FROG (finished room over garage) in these parts, is split into two rooms.  It is technically our 4th bedroom.  The nice part about it is we have a little bed up there so it can be used for guests and it is like their own sanctuary, even their own air controls.

So when we moved in, we made half of it the office/my room and the other half has our spare couch.  I told Q he could make it into his "man room" and you would have thought that was the best thing ever!

But the lighting in this room was terrible.  The fan needed updating SO bad and the light bulbs were giving off that yellow tint, as you can see.  It just wasn't conducive to a man room!

But with a little paint, it looks 100% better.  We used ______ paint from Lowe's.  We love this color.  Yes, it is a little dark so you couldn't use it in a large, dark room but since this room is going to be used for mostly video games and movies, it was perfect.  It is a very manly color as well.

Then the decorating started.  It is so funny to watch Q be excited about something.  I was trying to do school work while he hung, and put stuff together and there were many, "what do you think about this?" questions.  It was cute!

We went to Hobby Lobby this past weekend and found the Marines sign and the port hole mirror that you can sort of see in the right of this photo.  The Corona light came from Q's dad.  Yes, Josh and Joanna we still have your furniture :)

As I was cleaning out my office, I found my old car license plate.  The Ohio one was mine and the Florida one was Q's before he got his Marine plate.  I knew there was a reason I kept them!

So here is the old fan (top) vs our new fan (bottom).  It looks so much better! It doesn't give off a yellow tint! YAY!  If anyone knows me and decorating, I hate yellow when it comes to walls and lights.  I like it as bedding and accent colors but to have a whole yellow room is not my thing and right now our whole house is yellow!!!

What would be a man room without the Citadel flag!!!! This was the final and perfect touch to the room currently.  I think it is perfect.

Of course Cali girl has to get in on the fun!  She is the perfect accessory to Q in his man room!  Now all he needs is a boy dog to go along with it!

There still is some work to be done.  I would love to find some form of slip cover or something for the couch but if not it would be fine.  I am going to get new pillows that are a little more manly.  Q needs to hook up the TV and his sound system and get that all going.  So far it is coming together and it has been a fun room to do.
