Unfortunately, Cali's best friend, Angel, moved to California last summer. She will see her again one day! She hasn't become great friends with another dog like she was with Angel. She currently loves to play with the neighbor dog, Max, who is a giant yellow lab. It is pretty funny to watch her run circles around him.
She has become more and more human. Her favorite thing to do is to snuggle with us on the couch. In the first year, she didn't want much to do with snuggling. Now, she will snuggle with you all day long if she could. Her favorite spot is behind my knees when I lay on my side or right on top of you!
This little girl saved me during our first deployment. She didn't judge me on my bad days, she snuggled when I was sad, she played when I was happy, and she listened when I needed to talk. I know she couldn't talk back and isn't a human but truthfully, she helped me stay sane!!
Cali got to swim in her first pool this year. She did great! It is so funny to see her swim. She is so good at it and has no fear (except maybe jumping off the side of the pool into the water).
She made her first trip to the south end of the Outer Banks. She loves the beach and the sand. She really knows how to entertain herself by digging holes and throwing her ball around.
She really loves the beach, but I think she may enjoy the snow just as much! We had a lot of snow this year in NC and she absolutely loved it. With all my snow days off work, she got to play in it a lot. I have never really seen her just run circles for no reason but she does when it snows. She wanted to be outside 24/7!!
And she went on her first boat ride! She wasn't so sure about it the first day, but bring it on now!!
The second boat trip resulted in her jumping out of the boat after a buoy. I would say she is much more comfortable! It is hard to fish with her in the boat however, she wants to chase anything and everything you throw in the water and any bird that flies overhead.
Speaking of birds, these are by far her obsession right now! She will chase any bird that is in the yard, or not in the yard actually. First thing in the morning is bird searching time! She does the same thing with squirrels too. I think she wants to be their friend!
Overall, she is very playful but at the same time has calmed down a lot. She loves to be outside but loves to be wherever we are. She will do anything to make us happy. She is very smart and knows too many words for her own good! She picks up new tricks easily!
I can't believe that she is 2 years old! It has been a great 2 years with this little girl and I hope we have many more to come! I can't wait to see what the next year has in store for us! Happy birthday Cali-girl!
